Do you have something you want to share after the Alexander L. Kielland accident in 1980? If you have something you would like to share, please get in touch with project manager Else M. Tungland at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum. She is the project manager for the historical documentation project related to the Alexander L. Kielland accident at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum.
The purpose of the project is to help document the work of the Kielland network of survivors as well as families and relatives of the deceased, and to gather documentation related to people’s experiences in connection with the accident. The platform capsized in high seas in the North Sea on 27 March 1980. In the accident, 123 of the 212 people on board lost their lives, while 89 survived.
«For example, if you have a private archive, photos, objects, or other documentation you would like to share, we would like to get in touch,”says project manager Else M. Tungland who has a background as a social scientist. She is also a former author or co-author of several books about the Kielland accident.
“We are also interested in project proposals and ideas that can contribute to the story of the accident and the work that was done afterward. Our project period is three years and we will carry out various documentation activities within this timeframe,” says Tungland.
