Cecilie Claviez has an extensive background in the knowledge sector, with experience in culture, research and innovation. She is a social scientist and has spent several years in Brussels, among other things, responsible for the EU’s cultural program and EEA funds.
Claviez has worked with research funding and innovation collaboration, and assisted private and public actors in developing business opportunities and new models for earnings. She has also held key roles at the University of Stavanger and VID Spesialized University.
Her experience in research and innovation has given her a solid network both nationally and internationally. The board highlights Claviez’s expertise in strategy and restructuring work, as well as her ability to navigate complex organizations and knowledge-intensive environments. This makes her well-equipped to lead the museum into the future, together with the skilled team at the Norwegian Petroleum Museum.
“We are convinced that Cecilie Claviez will contribute to strengthening the museum’s role as a central communicator of knowledge and experiences that create both curiosity and insight”, says Bente Nyland, chair of the Board.

Cecilie Claviez comes from the position as general manager of Universitetsfondet for Rogaland (The University fund for Rogaland) and joins by agreement with the Board.
